Series – Future Self Journaling – 7F

When the universe tries to help you out.

I go for a walk today and my knee hurts by the time I finish it. One block is .4 mile and around a 1000 steps so yeah, knee pain after that short a distance isn’t good. I don’t even think I am that out of shape. I’m definitely not at an age where that should be common. Would be lying if I didn’t admit I have slacked off significantly regarding exercise and my steps since gardening season ended. Most summer days, a 10k step goal is only a small stretch for me. A few block walk usually easily wraps up the hot weather 10k daily step goal after a bit of time in the yard. My November through March set goal however? I’m lucky to hit 5k steps.

So I get home from my walk, with my twitchy knee talking to me, and check reddit per habit. The first article is this article about how weight loss reduces weight on your knees four fold.

Ok, ok, I get it. I read it.

30 Day Challenge wise, the extra spouse focus is easy and going well. Even if I am in the middle of an article, I take a break when he comes in, for a chat or a snuggle. Usually I will ask if it’s ok to finish up my work, but in this small way of not asking and giving him my full attention feels correct to me.

Future Self Journaling going very well.

I have done awful with the fruits and veggies yesterday. Potatoes. That’s the only vegetable. And while potatoes (mashed with skins) aren’t terrible, there are more vitamin rich, lower calorie options. Broccoli, salad, cauliflower, asparagus, winter squash, fresh fruit salad. Dinner tonight is a salad and a chili made with a bit of beef, two different kinds of beans (pinto and red) and squash. And I have some wine left over from Thanksgiving so, yeah.

Five Reason to Make Healthy Choices

  1. My knees! Less weight, happier knees
  2. Getting back into my water habit has been wonderful for my kidneys, and my body function in general. Goal is about 60 ounces a day, since I am not working in the hot sun.
  3. Walks are great for both the pup and for me, to feel the sun on my face.
  4. To lead by example.
  5. Because both of us are on board makes the whole experience easier. Gotta take advantage!

Grateful For:

-A warm day, low wind at the end of November!

-still no snow. It might hold off until we get the snowblower delivered.

-The Sps setting boundaries and enforcing them. Not always easy but I’m proud. Yes I made sure to let him know I recognized the effort.

-no more negatively significant news on Omicron variant as of yet. In fact, if it is both mild and aggressive, it may overtake Delta as the primary variant. If it is indeed far milder, that’s not the worst thing. I wish we could eradicate the SARS-CoV-2 honestly. I mean, who wouldn’t. But if we have to have this virus running rampant, milder is better imo.

-on that note, no Covid in my circle. Blessings!
