Relationships and Family Q7-9. Grab your notebook and let’s get to work on the next three questions to visualize your future self. Assume the ideal has been attained when answering these questions.
7. What are family conversations like? How does your family respond when you speak from the heart about something that is important to you? Family conversations are everything. Sometimes playful. Sometimes deep and probing. When I speak from the heart my family members listen, and then support and challenge kindly if needed. I don’t travel this path of life alone and it’s been people who care about me who have helped me steer my path in healthier directions via questioning and challenging me.
8. How does the family respond if someone has a problem? Family responds to a problem with healthy communication, offering help and honoring boundaries if desired. I love the idea of rallying the troops of family if care is needed. I have a lot of insecurities regarding if what and how I help people is the right course of action. I, Mrs. Direct, live in passive aggressive land so I never know if I am doing the correct thing. People here would rather pat your head and tell you “it’s fine” and shit talk you later to other people rather than be direct, even if you ask them to be direct/honest. If I can attain the confidence to navigate that, queen of the world y’all!
9. What are holidays like together? Holidays alternate so people can spend time with different families without the stress of disappointing a section of the family. Board games and dominoes, watching television together. Laughter and sharing memories. Just like the happy family holiday commercials. Nights not too late, so everyone can settle in at home comfortably. Lord, I sound elderly, and not the fun kind of elderly.
So be it.
Grateful For: (all my first world problems)
-A loss on the scale this AM, as I have gained back all the weight I lost in September and October. That bounty of Thanksgiving, a killer!
-A full fridge…AFTER clearing out most of the thanksgiving leftovers.
-The Sps likes my sweet potato squash casserole. I had a lot leftover so that’s helpful.
Godspeed Y’all!
