Series – Future Self Journaling – 22G – Rituals for Living Dreambook – Ritualize

Previous Installment

Holy crap I am caught up! As of today, and likely throughout the summer, these journaling posts will be day of, instead of posted later. I’ll fit them in between gardening content.

Wow, where did we leave off. I have not written down my journaling exercises of late, as this time of year the garden takes over. Honestly it takes over in March, when I sow the first seeds.

Reading through the last few future self journaling posts, I am proud of how committed I was to journaling and completing the rituals for living tasks. It’ll be more of a chore now that I want to spend all daylight in my garden sanctuary, yet as the work is both important and productive, gotta stick with it!

Ritualization – Overview

“Where am I trying to go so fast that I am willing to sacrifice the present” ~Rituals for Living Dreambook

Planning is critical to this process, as the intentional deliberate nature of a plan will build good habits. I love to plan, whether it’s menus, grocery lists or my week.

Where can I look to be inspired creating new or more impactful rituals?

  1. What habits or events do you wish to become fixtures in your life? Exercise? Meditation? Building connections?
  2. What is something you do everyday you would like to be more meaningful? Self care? Mealtimes?
  3. Is there a timeframe or event that may function as a re-calibration for your life. A certain birthday? A family or work event?

Think of a small way to acknowledge you have entered and exited a ritual. A quick mantra said silently or out loud. A cleansing breath. A lit candle. Settling into an inspired physical place.

What would work best for me is to smile and silently be grateful that I made the time to honor the important thing I am doing. A Grateful is calming to me. and takes only seconds.

Grateful For:

  1. RAIN. Oh my gosh we received a few inches of rain yesterday! The timing is good. I was able to put down some fertilizer. The rain came right when I needed it to help with the next succession of seeds planted last week.
  2. My perseverance. Setback, get back up. Repeat.
  3. PEACHES. I, a gardener in SOUTH DAKOTA, USDA Zone 4/5, harvested peaches from my very own tree and ate them on my patio. Eating a peach fresh off a tree was a first for me and WOW. Yeah, it was delicious and yeah, peach juice ran down my face.
  4. Still no Covid. It’s been two and a half years now. Introverts unite in health!

Quick recap, the purpose of vlogging this process. The journaling is part of a 30 Day Challenge I started over a year ago. I consider that a component of the Future Self Journaling process. The gratefulness notes near the bottom of each self improvement post is also a specific and helpful part of Future Self Journaling.

My children purchased the Rituals for Living Dreambook for me, so I thought that would be another helpful task in the future self journaling and 30 day challenge experience.
