Why? I love her personality and she gardens near where I would one day like to move. Brooke has no problem sharing failures along with her many successes. She has a real sense of humor, is engaging and has the prettiest row of zinnias in her community garden. Both she and I honor and connect with our Grandparents via homegrown urban farm stewardship.

2. The Gardening Channel with James Prigioni.
Why? He’s a super nerd about gardening, like me. James gets crazy giddy about harvesting (also me) and I haven’t seen him literally dance in the garden, like I do, but I bet he would. I can tell we could sit down and talk gardening for hours, and then days.

3. The Veggie Boys (and girls)
Why? Callie mostly. And I like to see what Grandma cooks. Seriously though, as much as I love Roots and Refuge farm and Jess, I have a strong dislike for her “store bought tomatoes taste like disappointment” statements, even selling t-shirts saying as much. Farmers feed people and just because it’s in a store doesn’t mean it’s automatically crap. I’m just glad when people have access to fresh fruit and veggies. A store-bought tomato was my gateway to starting my own garden. Food deserts are a significant problem and for many, a store bought tomato is a blessing and not as easy to obtain as it should be.

4. Self Sufficient Me
Why? Seeing gardening through the eyes of another in a different country and hemisphere! Fish frames? Burying a kangaroo for compost? He’s knowledgeable and entertaining.

5. Roots and Refuge.
Why? Jess’s personality is engaging. She is wise and real. I enjoy her gardening content very much. I love her heart to heart chats.
