All seeds grown in the high wind prairie, Midwest, in macro-climate zone 5(ish). Average dewpoint in summer is around 60. Soil is a loamy clay. Although my preference is organic, I have used commercial fertilizers from time to time. Growing days are approximately 135.
First Half of June harvest is a tease. The basket is mostly full of lettuce, yet some peas and summer squash will sneak in.
My favorite June event, and it is an event, is the spurt of growth your tomatoes and peppers will experience between the 10th and 17th of June. If you take note of the size of your plants on June 7th, and look again on June 10th, you will notice they double in size. Always happens the second or third week in June, depending on the weather. Such a neat thing to note.
What can I expect to be able to harvest the first half of June?
- Lettuce
- Arugula and other specialty greens
- Radish
- Kohlrabi
- Peas
- Asparagus
- Green onions
