I will do Garden Tours throughout the growing season. This video is the “before” to all of the lush garden tours to come this season. I list all the varieties shown via subtitles so you won’t miss a thing!
This vlog is the backyard, where I do most of my food gardening. My backyard oasis also supports many fruit trees, rose bushes and multiple smaller food and flower gardens. Next month I’ll add the front to the tour.
Changes this year?
- Converting more lawn to garden. A quarter of my backyard, as a matter of fact. This year it will function as my watermelon and squash patch.
- New trees and shrubs:
-Hazelnut (2)
-Purple Smoke Tree
-Carolina Allspice
-five new roses
-Mock Orange
-two Pear trees out front
-three lilacs
-Hydrangea
-Pink Reliance grape
-three Blueberries (third time is the charm?)
-two new raspberries
-Sweet Bay Magnolia. - Moving beyond the herb spiral, adding herbs to the iris and tulip garden.
- Expanding garlic. It’s going everywhere.
- Tall kale out back to form an annual hedge, joining sunflower and tobacco along one fence.
