Series – Future Self Journaling – 7G – Procrastination Help

Things are good! Not only am I logging, I am completing the tasks listed in my daily task list. As my procrastination is a core facet of my personality at this point in my life, these lists are helpful. I include tasks I know I will complete (ex. taking the dog out) so I have a built in sense of accomplishment and get that dopamine hit from another x added the the spreadsheet. I find if I can just get the doc open and mark some x’s, I more often than not want to do more of the more torturous tasks like sorting emails and dusting.

My 30 day challenges are another mechanism I use to help keep me on track. I have calendars, notebooks, spreadsheets and this vlog using writing to help keep me on track.

I am vlogging almost every day. I am back where I left off doing the Yale Coursera Happiness course, deep into chapter four. It feels good to already do as habit, a few of the skill builders. I savor and I show a great deal of gratitude.

The Sps is finding the adjustment to having a busy wife interesting. I am making time for him, but with all the writing, I am less available. Tonight though, we are watching a movie together. His choice of movie, one I am looking forward to, Don’t Look Up.

My challenge is to not multitask. Being a present spouse is critical. No procrastination allowed when it comes to show someone they are loved. I need to sit and give the movie my full attention, per his request. These days, when I need to sit and pay attention to one thing, all I see is my spreadsheet missing X’s. Anyone want to give me a solid Waterboy “You can do it!”?

Thanks!

Fruit and Veggie challenge going very well. Today I had a huge salad, a clementine, fresh blueberries and a black beans and corn flatbread I whipped up that was delicious! Pretty sure I met my fiber goal.

Didn’t go for a walk today. It’s below zero with wind-chill. I know I need to do an exercise video or some other activity on the cold days but I just haven’t.

It’s on the spreadsheet.

Grateful For:

-A new recipe I created turning out amazing. The black bean flatbread. The Sps loved it too!

-A new year, full of possibilities. Ringing it in, inside a warm home.

-Having a fantastic discussion over a steak and veggie dinner, about what conversation we hope to be having New Years Eve 2022. Goals, what we are working on. A bit of Future Self work as a couple.

Godspeed Y’all!

The journaling is part of a 30 Day Challenge I started over a year ago. I consider that a component of the Future Self Journaling process. The gratefulness notes near the bottom of each self improvement post is also a specific and helpful part of Future Self Journaling.

The End.
