Rituals for Living future self journaling – Vision of the Future, Q7-9 For reference, questions are asking about 3 years in the future, not currently.
7. What sort of influence do you have on your community? What value do you bring to the world? In three years, the influence I would like to have on my community is first define who my community is. The people in my physical world who actually know of me and care about me? I live in a very divided community, where people actually think the world would be better of people who think like I do died. Not even hyperbole. Is caring what they think of me better for the world or is it throwing pearls before swine?
No amount of good works would make someone who wants you impaired think better of you, unless you go to impossible lengths or lower your values to meet theirs.
Anyway. I want the good people in the world to see me as an even more involved mother than I am now. While I abhor advertising, filming or otherwise exploiting the work I do for those who need assistance, I would hope my work is appreciated and noticed as an inspiration for others to do the same. Without my deploying any attention seeking behavior to the situation.
Just lead by example and hope the universe helps with the rest.
8. How do you feel about paying bills, taxes or unforeseen expenses? Bills being paid is a good thing. I prefer having the head of household handle the finances, but I am fully aware of the burden this places on him and leaving it to him isn’t the most sound financial behavior. So, I will continue to get further involved, including investments. Benefit of being married to a successful day trader (when he was single) and keeping CNBC on in the background as I go about my day. One picks up a bit of knowledge. If my investments now are any indication, in three years I should have a small yet productive nest egg.
I have no objection to taxes as paying taxes means you have more income and power in the world, imo. I object to some uses of our tax dollars, but taxes overall are not a negative. I think the highway department, sewer, garbage, fire, basic health and immunization services and law enforcement et al should be paid well and taxes are the mechanism for the public good.
Unforeseen expenses. Well, I am a big believer in Plans. Business plans, marketing plans, transition plans, retirement plans, short/mid/longterm plans, weight loss plans and health plans, so I think I should be able to handle most unforeseen expenses. Can I guarantee it? No. Even deploying all the Plans promises nothing.
Like everyone else, we’ll do our best.
9. How do you feel when you check your bank account in three years?
I will have enough to cover a short term emergency while still being years out from my long term goals. My investments will bring pride.
Grateful for:
-A lovely veterans day dinner, provided by spouse. Got to try new dishes!
-Day off picking up kiddo from school.
-A warm, safe home.
Godspeed y’all!
