Community Connection Chapter Four. Questions 7-10. Answer questions as though your ideal has been attained. The Dreambook is one of the many ways I daily Future Self Journal.
7. Describe your community.
My personal community that I cultivate includes people not in my actual community as my actual community is homogenous. My community includes far away friends I’ve known for decades and a few new. My local community is a circle of acquaintances, my neighbors. My family is a part of my community.
8. How do you engage with your community? In what ways do you fit in? I reach out to my far away friends often, with remembering special days and doing check-ins. My neighbors are friendly, yet allow the space I need to putter around my yard. They care, but not too much. I engage with a sibling daily and other family weekly. Recognizing boundaries, of course. I am always down to hear the gossip, yet trusted because I keep it to myself.
9. How are you nourished and supported by your community?
I am nourished by my community in their care for my garden and property, and their respect for my boundaries. They are friendly yet not intrusive. I am supported by my community when they keep just a casual eye on things. They remember me when it matters.
10. What value do you bring to your community?
I am available for friendship and feedback. I am honest and direct, not the typical lie to your face passive aggressive midwestern bullshit. I love being the fruit and veggie fairy, dropping off goodies around the neighborhood throughout the garden season. I’ll let you know if your garage door is open late at night or when you are gone, keeping a general eye without being nosy.

Quick recap to orient what is going on… The journaling is part of a 30 Day Challenge I started almost a year ago. I consider that a component of the Future Self Journaling process. The gratefulness notes near the bottom of each self improvement post is also a specific and helpful part of Future Self Journaling. The Rituals for Living Dreambook was given to me by my children, so why not add this to my blogging/future self journaling time?
