Series – Future Self Journal – 23B – Has To Be Purple Grapes

Last year I made grape jelly, using grapes freshly harvested from our two grape vines. This jelly was the best jelly I had ever tasted. No surprise, as the grapes themselves were brightly flavored and sweet. Two different kinds of jelly were made, from a white grape and a red grape. The resulting jellies were a pale yellow and a coral pink.

The boys refused to eat the jelly.

“But grape is your favorite jelly!”

It’s Not Purple.

I don’t think I would have added food purple coloring even if I had known in advance. It won’t kill them to eat grapes and jellies in all their lovely colors.

Currently we are almost out of grape jelly. I have some blackberry jelly I am not currently using, as right now I am on a guava jelly kick. So I scooped the purple blackberry jelly into the grape jelly bottle, wiped it down and told the boys I bought new grape jelly.

Let’s See If They Notice The Switch. I bet they don’t.

Edit: They didn’t notice. I’m dyeing my awesome homemade jelly purple and putting it in the container from the store. I adore my Swenson Red grapes, best I have ever tasted. Unless we buy a larger property, I can’t see growing the Concord grape the boys require.

I am Grateful for:

1. How many consecutive WEEKS weblogging? I am killin’ it!

2. Moscato. SO good. I like all the colors.

3. A satisfying holiday. Even though it is 2020, even though it was just our household, the day was chill, pleasant and delicious.

4. My blessings, all of them. Too many to count and the list gets longer every day.

Godspeed Y’all.
