Series – Future Self Journaling – 22E – Two years, TOPS

I have a hard time finding good mechanics.  Once I find one, they go out of business within a couple of years.  I am the kiss of death for good mechanics and interesting foods at the grocery store.  Both will be gone within about two years after I discover them.

I am genuinely sorry.

Anyway…  I found a mechanic I liked.  The prices weren’t the lowest, which I am fine with as they only use new parts.  The waiting room is well maintained.  The service guys were friendly.  There is a veteran’s discount.  Small yet always appreciated.   They offered rides if the service took too long.  The rating were good.  Lots of texting. The problem?  The parking lot.  Rarely was there a space to park and the spaces available were small and cramped.  Most of the spots and all additional space is filled with junk cars/cars in various states of repair.  Parking was stressful.  Also, services that should only take an hour or two (per past experience, new tires, brakes ect) took hours and required me to drop off the car and leave it for the day.  The one time I took a new (to me) car to have a used car inspection, my car sat while other services took priority, although I had an appointment I set a week ago.  Sometimes staff calls in sick (please do) so once and I while I expect there can be a back up.  But to let my car sit while you take a walk in oil change?  No.  Timecost, timecost, timecost.  OBSESSED.

Rule of Pick Two.  Fast, Cheap or Good.  You can have two.  I was given (probably, time will tell) one by this mechanic shop, for three services.  Three chances.  That is plenty.

Hopefully this new mechanic does better.  It’s already cheaper.  Hopefully it’s good.  I can wait if the service type allows it.  Also, this parking lot is huge.  New building.  You drive up to the service area, let the door open and pull your car inside to a well lit and maintained processing space.  Very impressed.  Also, the people waiting room is very large and well maintained.   Hopefully the checkout comes soon and that process is just as nice.

EDIT: It was. Plus a veterans discount!

Grateful For:

-Taters!!  So far, the potatoes I want to plant next year are in stock.  Pinto Gold, Yukon Gem and Russian Banana.

-happy people.  They are just lovely to watch and enrich my state of mind and my day

-the lady who for some reason sat right next to me instead of keeping her distance got up and sat somewhere else.  Good, as there were many empty seats allowing space.  Please take advantage.  We are in a pandemic, ok?

Godspeed Ya’ll
