Series – Future Self Journal – 18 – My experience so far.

I’ve done very well. I do find the format confusing. I read the instructions, repetition is the name of the game. Yet I feel like the exercise is going to fast and my answers are the same. I take less than 5 minutes to complete the daily journaling. To refresh anyone, here are the Future Self Journal questions:

Today I am practicing _______________________________
I am grateful for_______________________________________________
Today, I am _______________________________________
Change in this area allows me to feel __________
Today I am practicing when_____________________________________

As a reminder, Dr. Nicole LePera has provided permission for her Future Self Journal to be shared without notification to her or specific permission from her. Feel free to copy and use those five questions if you find them helpful.

Maybe it is the part of me that enjoys writing and list-making, but it feels like I should be writing a whole lot more than I am, for the journaling part of this exercise. Perhaps because I already did gratefulness exercises as a habit?

The feeling that I am misunderstanding the instructions is my only critique. I am very impressed with my experience otherwise. I have missed one day FSJing and missed zero days sharing my gratefuls on this website. While the journaling is a bit confusing, I have have great success being more productive around the house and getting the more tedious chores done, even though those chores are not the task I have assigned myself to journal about. Keeping promises to yourself, no matter how insignificant the tasks may seem, is a large part of the work Dr. LePera asks us to do. Some differences I have noticed:

1. My home is a bit tidier.

2. I walk every day, at least one block.

3. I have started working on throwing things away and sorting my paper hoard.

4. Back in the habit of putting on my face.

5. Creating my website content unrelated to FSJing.

Overall, I have to grade the experience an A. *smile*

Grateful For:

-My friends who have reached out this holiday.
-My successful recipe creation. In particular, I couldn’t find a sweet potato pie recipe that I was looking for, so I just created my own. And it was BE-YOND.
-All the lovely heirloom china I have to choose from.
-A crazy long list of things I am so very grateful for.

Godspeed y’all!!
