Updates as of Dec 31, 2022 in BOLD
- That two pound tomato. I want to grow it. I have set myself up for success.
-I have seed varieties that are intended to be large. Goatbag (a Renaissance Farm Seeds purchase), Mushroom Basket (my top three largest tomatoes have been Mushroom Basket) and Hillbilly, which will always set a mega-blossom.
-I have every type of plant support available, including 8 ft bamboo stakes.
-Experience, I feel like now I have the experience and knowledge to best assist success.
-I have watched ALL of the youtube large tomato growing videos, and they confirmed what I already knew. James Prigioni ect… Nope. FAIL. I gave my mushroom basket and goatbag tomatoes a ton of space, away from my high intensity tomato set up. I even let the plant sprawl, as a vine plant prefers. The goatbag plant gave me one little 10 ounce tomato. The mushroom basket tomato gave me multiple one pound tomatoes. It was a fantastic year for tomatoes, but the worst as far as size. - 10k steps a day beginning in April. That is an easy goal on garden days, as I have so much digging up lawn to do. But none-garden work days, it’s a challenge. SUCCESS. Each block is 1000 steps and a few of those adds up. My steps dropped back to 3k in November but I am back to my winter goal of 5k steps a day.
- Post a video to Youtube and my site twice a week, beginning in April. Partially met. Posting was going strong in the summer, once I figured out the editing. But I learned something. I hate editing, so pushing through that dislike is a challenge. But I did post a lot of content, and my weather content has over 100k views! That is AMAZING.
- Watch one movie a week. I have so many saved. lol Nope. See above. Learning to shoot video and edit it has had a timecost.
- Create a Thai Curry recipe that I like. I made a picture perfect Thai Curry, yet I didn’t like it. Nope.
- Make delicious jelly again this year. Beyond Success! Not only did I make jelly, I made multiple pepper jellies and some ground cherry jelly!
- Take the time to process as many tomatoes as possible, including passata and paste. Success! Again, not only did I process tomatoes, I make pasta sauce and froze extra tomatoes. I got all the tomatoes I didn’t eat or giveaway processed! A+
- Post one recipe a week beginning when the harvest does. Nope. Fell to the wayside with my other obligations.
- Become a LumaFusion pro. What does that mean? Getting through an entire edit without needing to swear and walk away for a bit. Success! I don’t enjoy it, but I can do a decent job.
- Keep up with my CBT and holistic therapy work. It’s easy to be sidetracked by gardening! Definite drop off compared to goal, but I did not give up and am back on track. I also feel like the work is paying off.
The End
